"With his first release since EP Quiet Scenes, James Leprettre's latest single Paper Bag is the quintessential tune for those lonely isolated days we're all bathing in at the moment. For fans of Alexandra Saviour and Dan The Man, Leprettre's blend of acoustic folk with slick modern production makes for a desolate sound which matches any mood you could possibly need it to."
- James George Potter, Totally Wired Magazine
Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, the indie folk rock singer-songwriter now currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
Picking up music at a young age, James has always been at home on a stage. High school years were spent performing in his hometown, playing open mike nights and gigs both as a solo acoustic artist and as frontman for James Leprettre and the Sound. James often cites Paul Simon, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, and Leonard Cohen as major influences in his work.
His first EP, Quiet Scenes, was released in the spring of 2019 at the age of 18 before moving to Nashville. Paper Bag was the first single to follow, released in January of 2021. The lonesome folksy ballad describes what it's like to lose yourself in a relationship. Paper Bag received attention from local publications. Bite Out Of You was released in June of 2021, boasting a grandeur that differs from much of his work.
James has spent a lot of time playing writer's rounds and other venues around Nashville, honing his craft as both a songwriter and a performer backed by a full band. New music is in the works, and James looks to put out a new single in the summer of 2022.
